I really thought she was going to peg it.

Last Saturday night on BBC-2, the announcer we've come to know as 'Daytime Mariella' was on. I really thought she was going to die mid-link. And as Mr Rosser has pointed out, her use of the word 'of" was somewhat incorrect.

Weather Forecasts



The girl with the dodgy lamp did the local TV weather forecast at lunchtime. She said it wouldn't rain. But it did. Lots.

But... at no point did she say this was a forecast based on scientific methods or made using big Met Office computers. So, this could have been a forecast based on a faulty pine cone. Wikipedia witters on thus:
"Forecasting is the process of estimation in unknown situations. Prediction is a similar, but more general term. Both can refer to estimation of time series, cross-sectional or longitudinal data."


So she was under no obligation to get it right, it seems. Bah!
